What Is a Vinyl Record Insert?
If you've ever pulled a vinyl record out of its cover and found a printed card sitting inside the sleeve alongside the record — that's an insert. Think of it as the bonus content. The liner notes. The stuff that turns a beautiful gift into something someone sits with for a while.
Our double-sided inserts are printed on quality card stock and sit inside the cover with your vinyl. Both sides are fully customisable, which means you've got two entire pages of extra space to fill however you want.

What to Put on a Custom Vinyl Record Insert
Anything, really. That's the whole point. But here are the most popular ideas we see from our customers:
Song lyrics — Print the lyrics to the songs on your record. It's the kind of detail that makes someone sit on the couch with the insert in their hands while the record plays. That's the vinyl experience.

The Collage
A full-page photo mosaic on one side — your photos scattered and overlapping to fill every inch of the page. It's bold, it's vibrant, and it works brilliantly for birthdays, friendships, and couples who have a camera roll full of memories.
The flip side features a film strip border running down the edge with more photos, plus a generous text area where you can drop in your tracklist, a lyric, or a personal note. The dark background makes the text pop and gives the whole thing a cinematic feel.

The Lyric Card
This one's for the music lovers. Both sides are dedicated to song lyrics, laid out in columns with the artist names running vertically alongside each track. Decorative elements — clouds, botanicals, subtle textures — give it a handmade, zine-like feel.
Side A comes in teal and kraft tones, Side B shifts to purple. It's the kind of insert you'd expect to find inside an indie record from your favourite local band.

The Photo Gallery
Clean, structured, and elegant. One side is a 3×3 grid of photos — nine images, evenly spaced, no overlap. It's the kind of layout that makes even phone photos look like they belong in a frame.
The flip side splits into photos and tracklist, with your Side A and Side B songs listed in script font alongside a few more images. It's refined without being fussy.

How to Add an Insert to Your Custom Vinyl Record
It's simple. When you're ordering your custom vinyl record, just select the double-sided insert as an add-on. You'll then either use one of our free Canva templates or upload your own design.
If you're using the Canva templates, everything is already sized correctly — just drag, drop, and export. If you're going fully custom, we'll send you the specs so your design prints perfectly.
The insert ships inside your record cover, tucked in alongside the vinyl. Shrink wrapped and ready to go.

Frequently Asked Questions About Vinyl Record Inserts
Can I design both sides differently? Absolutely. One side photos, the other side lyrics. One side a message, the other side a collage. Mix and match however you like.
Do I have to use your Canva templates? Not at all. The templates are there to make life easier, but you're welcome to design your own insert from scratch. Just make sure the dimensions are correct — we'll provide the specs.
What sizes are the inserts? They match your record size. A 12" record gets a 12" insert, a 10" gets a 10", and a 7" gets a 7".
Can I add an insert to a Dub Plate order? Inserts are currently available as an add-on for Custom Vinyl Records only.
Is the insert printed on both sides? Yes — two full sides of print, included in the price.
What file format should I send my insert design in? If you're using our Canva templates, just export as a PDF. If you're designing your own, we accept PDF, PNG, or JPEG — just make sure it's high resolution so your photos and text print crisp and clear.
