What Are PhonoLab Canva Templates?
Every PhonoLab custom vinyl record comes with a sleeve that you can personalise — and our Canva templates are pre-built designs that fit our sleeves exactly. Each template is sized correctly, uses high-quality print specs, and is fully editable in Canva's free tier.
You can change:
- Photos and images
- Names, dates, and lyrics
- Fonts and colours
- Layouts (within reason — they're built to look great even with minimal edits)
If you've never used Canva before, it's free, browser-based, and easier than Word. If you've used it once, you already know enough.

How to use a PhonoLab Canva template
The whole process takes under ten minutes if you've got your photos ready.
- Pick your template from the PhonoLab template page
- Open it in Canva — you'll need a free Canva account.
- Customise it. Swap the placeholder photo for yours, update the names, dates, lyrics, or message, and adjust fonts or colours if you'd like.
- Download as a PDF (Canva → Share → Download → PDF Print).
- Upload it with your order when you're checking out your custom record.
That's it. We handle the rest.
Tips for Getting the Best Print Quality
A few things that make a real difference to how your cover and labels turn out:
Use high-resolution photos. The bigger the image file, the sharper the print. Photos straight from your phone camera are usually fine. Screenshots, Instagram downloads, or heavily cropped images often come out blurry — if it looks pixelated when you zoom in on Canva, it'll look pixelated on your cover.
Stick to the template safe zones. The templates are designed with bleed and trim built in. Keep important text and faces away from the very edges of the design — anything in the outer 3-5mm may get trimmed during production.
Download as PDF Print, not PNG. PDF Print preserves the full resolution. PNG compresses it and you'll lose quality, especially on text.
Not sure? Send it through anyway. If your images are on the low side, send us what you've got and we'll let you know before we print. We'd rather catch it early than print something you're not happy with.
