Amalia – Heaven in a Hurricane
In August 2026 we completed a run of 30 records for Amalia, a Melbourne-based indie pop artist whose sound blends vintage nostalgia with bold, emotionally charged songwriting. Her debut album Heaven in a Hurricane was cut on clear 12" vinyl — eleven tracks of cinematic pop that's already turning heads at Triple J, Triple J Unearthed, and Rolling Stone AU/NZ.
We cut 30 copies on clear 12" vinyl at 33RPM, packaged in a full-colour printed sleeve. The artwork is striking — Amalia arms-wide against a dramatic desert canyon landscape in a blue fur coat, with the same rock formation imagery carried through to the centre labels and back cover. The back cover lists the full eleven-track tracklist and credits the album as a collaboration with Julian Schweitzer.
Amalia describes her sound as nostalgic rock meets unapologetic pop, served in vintage crystal — and that's about as accurate as you can get. Drawing on influences like Stevie Nicks, Lana Del Rey, Meg Mac, and Florence and the Machine, she builds songs around big vocals, sharp storytelling, and a streak of drama that captures the chaos and contradictions of modern love.
Heaven in a Hurricane was recorded, produced, and mixed by Julian Schweitzer at Red Door Sounds in Melbourne. Across eleven tracks — from Borderline through to Cruel to Be Kind — the album covers serious ground. Son of God has already been played on both Triple J and Triple J Unearthed, and Amalia performed a Rolling Stone AU/NZ In My Room session featuring I Swear It Was Love and a stripped-back version of Look Alive. With nearly two albums' worth of material crafted with Schweitzer over the past year, Heaven in a Hurricane is the first full statement — and it's a big one.
